Oceanside Photo & Telescope, a family owned and operated business since 1947, opened the OPT Underground Gallery in 2005. The gallery started as a cooperative where a small group of photographers worked together to develop an audience for their work. The spacious gallery, with its semi industrial chic interior is home to works by award winning photographers. All are local to San Diego and the North County region, and more and more, the gallery is opening its doors and offering wall space to emerging artists and various happenings and lectures. Being connected to the store makes for a unique situation for a fine art gallery, setting it apart from the others by allowing it to be dynamic in experimental flexibility and thus quite broad in scope.
